10 3.2 | Absence Policies
We recognize that you may have unexpected absences from work due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. If you cannot come into work, notify your coordinator by text and/or phone call at your earliest opportunity and follow-up with an email copying Dr. Swiezy, Dr. Neal, and the office manager. If you are unable to contact your supervisor, you will be expected to call the HANDS phone number (317-274-2475) to let the office manager know of your absence. You are expected to make up any missed work hours and will arrange the make-up time with your coordinator. Frequent unscheduled absences can result in the termination of your student position.
If you fail to notify your coordinator, the office manager, Dr. Neal, and Dr. Swiezy prior to an absence, the following policies will apply:
- For the first failure to notify, you will receive a verbal warning.
- For the second failure to notify, you will receive a written warning.
- For the third failure to notify, you will receive a written warning and Dr. Swiezy will arrange a meeting with your program advisor. This can result in the termination of your employment.
