**DRAFT** Canvas accessibility for instructors **DRAFT**
NOTES FOR REVIEWERS
This set of chapters is designed for IU instructors at a novice to intermediate level of accessibility knowledge and skill. The language choice of “update” instead of “fix” or “correct” is intended to be less confrontational, especially with instructors resistant to accessibility practices for a variety of reasons. I’m hopeful that others will find this useful
I’ve tried to limit linking to longer, more detailed documentation to avoid overwhelm and to keep them within the Pressbook. In the future there will be additional glossary items with definitions and screen shots of Canvas and Ally to provide visual guidance. I omitted information on visual description for the moment as I’m not clear on what IU faculty should be told but will be happy to add it in later.
Note that the heading structure on the “how-to” pages is weird because Pressbooks adds all items tagged H1 to the sub-table of contents. In an effort to make these topics easily findable, headings that should be H2 are H1 for inclusion in the book’s navigation. Select Table of Contents at the top right and select the plus (+) sign to the right of those chapters to find the additional navigation. It also appears on the table of contents on the book’s home page.
I’m hopeful that others will find this useful. It will be available to clone as part of a public Pressbook once it’s finalized.
