10 Looking into the Future
As environmental concerns increase, new regulations banning new internal combustion engines have been passed in both the US and Europe and are supposed to go into effect around 2035. In an effort to preserve the traditions of motorsport, Porsche has been developing a synthetic fuel (eFuel) that is nearly carbon neutral, using atmospheric CO2 and sustainable energy sources, such as wind turbines. Porsche just recently began production of eFuel at a pilot plant in Chile and plans another to be built in Texas. In response to the success of eFuels, Germany is pushing back against the upcoming internal combustion engine ban. With innovations like this, the Porsche 911 may have many more iterations still to come![1]
