Assessment Day
Mark your calendar: The second annual Assessment Day will be held on August 16.
This year’s workshop will focus exclusively on fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability in academic programs. (A separate Assessment Day will be held on August 27 for Student Affairs, Administrative Affairs and Advancement.) Building on last year’s comprehensive walk-through of the assessment process from setting goals through reporting on results, this year’s workshop will zero in on analyzing those results and transforming the data into measurable concrete improvement.
“The Higher Learning Commission puts more weight on closing the feedback loop, so the Faculty Senate Assessment Subcommittee likewise shifted its scoring rubric to focus more heavily on that piece of incorporating faculty in the assessment process,” explains Dr. Ron Severtis, director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) which is facilitating the workshop.
Participation is mandatory for programs on the annual cycle, and strongly encouraged for those on more advanced cycles. The workshop will be held via Zoom in order to speed the transitions between “rooms” and maintain a record.
