Hamilton, Ohio

Hamilton, Ohio is a city about three times the size of Oxford and located about 20 miles north of Cincinnati. The small town is serviced by Hamilton City School District.

The town began as Fort Hamilton in 1791 in honor of Alexander Hamilton. Fort Hamilton is now a local hospital owned and operated by the Kettering Health Network in the heart of Hamilton, Ohio. Hamilton home to a variety of local landmarks and local businesses.

One major landmark in Hamilton is Veteran’s Park, located just off the Great Miami River. Veteran’s Park has a playground, dog park, multiple shelters, and a lodge available for a variety of events. The park also includes a variety of monuments dedicated to our veterans.

Cincinnati, Ohio

Cincinnati, Ohio is one of the more well known cities in Ohio. Home to the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati is a much larger college town than Oxford. Cincinnati first began in 1788, and has grown to one of the largest cities in the state since then. Located along the Ohio River, Cincinnati is home to the Cincinnati Bengals football team, the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, and FC Cincinnati soccer.

In the Over the Rhine district of Cincinnati, you can find a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops that are unique to the area. On any given weekend, you find find some event or another. A few examples from this past year include a mimosa crawl, a margarita crawl, a variety of concerts, and a farmer’s market.

Cincinnati is also home to the WEBN fireworks show, one of the most infamous fireworks shows in the country. The show first began in 1977 as a celebration of WEBN’s 10th birthday, and the tradition has continued ever since.

Indianapolis, Indiana

Indianapolis, Indiana is about 2 hours from Oxford, Ohio, but it has a lot to offer, which attracts many locals to the area. Home of the Indianapolis Colts football team, Indianapolis is well known for Lucas Oil Stadium, which holds many events that attract visitors from out of town. These events include the annual Monster Energy Supercross race and Monster Jam, a monster truck event.

In addition to the variety of sporting events and thrilling attractions, Indianapolis has multiple concert venues, including the Old National Centre and Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Hoosier Dome used to be a popular spot for concerts and sporting events alike, but it was replaced with Lucas Oil Stadium in 2008.
