1 Haiku
A Haiku easily became my favorite poem to write over the summer semester. They were simple to create, short and any idea was easily transferrable to this form of poem. When I had a feeling or something that I desired to write about, a Haiku became the ‘go to’ poem for me.
Lilly of the Valley
Lilly
Of the
Valley is the
Flower
You made
Me love dearly
Etched
On my
Arm in ink
Picked
Every May
With you in
Mind
Tiny
White bells
Hang off the
Stem
The scent
Takes me back
Memories
Flood my
Entire mind as
I
Think of
All of my
Time
With you
Iris Flower
You
Remind me
Of an Iris
They
Bloomed near
Our childhood cabin
Picked
From the
Ground and put
On
Table display
All to see
One
Time you
Put an iris
Behind
My Ear
Photographed the moment
An
Iris Flower
Will forever remind
Me
Of you
And blissful memories
Stars in the Sky
Stars
Twinkling bright
In the sky
Look
Up at
The tiny gems
In
The sky
Shining ever brightly
Little
Lanterns that
Light up the
Darkness
Nothing compares
To the night
Sky
Above us
With some bright
And
Some duller
Stars that shine
In
The night
Sky above us
New Orleans
Jazz
Echoes off
The brick walls
Of
The historical
Streets like a
Respite
From Chaos
Of the buckets
Used
As drums
In the alleyways
Stress
Stress
Is like
A suffocating pressure
That
Feels like
Bricks piling upon
Shoulders
Frozen in wonder
Whether to keep
Going
Or stop
And let it
Consume
Poetry
Poetry
Is a
Great way to
Express
Your inner
Thoughts and feelings
When
You lack
Other freeing avenues
To
Do so
