Use of AMPATH Descriptions

Use of the following language in publications, press releases or similar promotional materials that discuss the consortium or host member’s involvement in the AMPATH partnership is encouraged:

Language:

  • AMPATH stands for Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare. In Mexico, the partnership is also referred to by the Spanish translation of Modelo Académico para Proveer Acceso a la Salud or MAPAS.
  • The acronym AMPATH should be capitalized in writing.
  • AMPATH should be referred to as a partnership (not a program, effort or initiative).
  • AMPATH is a global network of universities and academic health centers collaborating with ministries of health to build public health systems to ensure essential health for all people.
  • AMPATH Global refers to the network of AMPATH partnerships.
  • When possible, partners in the host country (Kenya, Ghana, Mexico and Nepal) should be listed first.
  • AMPATH strengthens health systems and tackles health disparities, trains future global health leaders and fosters healthcare innovations to improve health worldwide.
  • AMPATH does more than medical treatment. We combine care with other supports to change lives for the better.
  • We start with care for patients, and then do more to empower communities, educate tomorrow’s medical experts, and develop research breakthroughs that change the health of the world.
  • The AMPATH Consortium of 15 leading academic health centers around the world provides multi-disciplinary expertise and long-term, sustainable partnership built on mutual trust, respect and benefit.
  • The AMPATH Consortium is one of the partners in the AMPATH México, AMPATH Ghana, AMPATH Nepal and AMPATH Kenya partnerships.
  • Indiana University (IU) leads the AMPATH Consortium of academic health centers and serves as the secretariat for AMPATH Global. IU provides administrative, research, and training support.
  • AMPATH (location) is a partnership between (host institutions, and government/ministry of health/public health system) and the AMPATH Consortium of academic health centers worldwide. NYU, UT-Austin, Mount Sinai and IU lead their site partnerships on behalf of the AMPATH Consortium.
