Overview

To promote good communications, transparency and trust, this document highlights key elements of a  shared fundraising protocol that allows all parties to act with integrity and confidence.

Audience

The audience for this Collaborative Policy includes all staff, faculty members and other individuals  involved in fundraising or related activities at all AMPATH sites.

Philosophy of Fundraising Collaboration:
As a global consortium of academic health institutions aligned  on a mission to improve the health of people in underserved communities in partnership with academic  health centers, ministries of health and others to enhance/strengthen public sector health systems and

promote well-being,
the power of our collective fundraising efforts can be amplified if we work

collaboratively, share opportunities and convey with one voice the strength of AMPATH Global to our

partners and supporters.

Roles and Responsibilities of AMPATH Site Consortium Leads:

• Identify fundraising opportunities targeted to assist specific areas and obtain funding on behalf of  their specific AMPATH site.

• Update shared CFR (Corporate and Foundation Relations) list on a regular basis with relationships  and program interest areas to ensure a collaborative approach

• Share opportunities that may have a global reach or a specific scope that is beyond their own  partnership site.

• Ensure that all site-specific fundraising opportunities and contacts are captured in their own  institutional databases.

When applicable, collaborate with the AMPATH Global Secretariat on site-specific funding (e.g.,  reporting, relationships with donors, etc.) for subawards from IU

• Manage and steward site-specific partnerships (including thanking donors and complying with any  donor-specific agreements)

• Each prime recipient shall be responsible for sub-awardee management.

Roles and Responsibilities of AMPATH Global Secretariat:

• Identify global fundraising opportunities and obtain funding on behalf of AMPATH Global. • Send monthly reminders to update shared CFR list.

• Promote AMPATH Global thought leadership and position AMPATH Global among government,  agencies/development banks, academia, and industry as a leader in addressing global health  equity and public healthcare system strengthening. (Note: This will be in addition to and in  support of each AMPATH site’s efforts to promote their own partnerships.)

COLLABORATIVE POLICY

AMPATH Global Fundraising Guidelines

• Ensure that all global fundraising opportunities and contacts are captured in a tracking document  stored in a shared platform to ensure accessibility by all partners.

• Manage and steward AMPATH Global partnerships (where IU is the prime and other sites are the  subawardees). This includes thanking donors and complying with any donor-specific agreements. • Each prime recipient shall be responsible for sub-awardee management.

• Lead the development of SOPs related to best practices for donor relationships • Support collaboration across the Consortium and act as a point of contact for connecting AMPATH  site partners and other Consortium members on opportunities of mutual interest.

Collaborative Fundraising:
The spirit of collaboration and a general interest mind set will prevail and  AMPATH Site Consortium Leads will help, where appropriate, introduce opportunities to others involved  in the AMPATH Consortium and contribute to the development of the best pitch.

Fundraising Outside of Geographic Area:
When an opportunity arises outside of an AMPATH site’s  Geographic Area but in another AMPATH site’s Geographic Area, the spirit of open communication will  always prevail. The AMPATH Consortium site lead serving the Geographic Area which the funder has  identified as a priority area will be informed of the opportunity and both organizations will work  together to seek the outcome which is in the best interests of AMPATH and the funder. Clear  communication and collaboration among AMPATH Global partners will place AMPATH in the best  position when working with funders regionally, nationally, and globally.

Fundable Projects
: The AMPATH Secretariat and AMPATH Consortium Site Leads will contribute to a  Global Fundable Projects list (i.e., multi-site project ides) and meet quarterly to discuss opportunities,  share funding opportunities, and collaborate. This forum will support the growth of existing partnership  relationships into regional and/or global ones and the sharing of AMPATH knowledge.
