Introduction

Since childhood, tabletop RPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons have fascinated me. That ability to assume another persona, use it to conquer great foes or unravel great secrets, it was something interesting, something fresh. I have fond memories of playing D&D with my friends in high school – but what of the cultural memory of the game? How did D&D come to be, and how was it received? Thus motivated to find out, I began this project.
