It is common for classes to require a number of essays, one that is a written version of the oral presentation required in the tutorial, and an essay-style final exam. Few disciplines use multiple choice exams. Faculty make themselves available for conferences, and it is strongly recommended that you meet with them prior to attempting the first essay. Individual departments should have essay-writing guidelines and instructions for submitting your essays that you should consult. Students should expect to lead a tutorial, either alone or as part of a group, especially in liberal arts courses.
