Scholarship as Conversation

What we will be Covering in this Section:

In this section, you will learn about how articles are often in conversation with each other. An article from 2022 cites another article from 2019 as forming part of the theory of its research. Another article from 2024 then goes on to cite the article from 2022 as influencing its ideas, and on and on it goes.

The good news for you, is that if you find one really great article, you can use this idea of scholarship as conversation to find both articles that the original article cited as well as more recent articles that cited the original article you found.

If this sounds a little confusing, do not worry. Many of our databases (and Google Scholar) can make this easy for you do.
