Electro Harmonix Poly Octave Generator Pedal

In 1967, Roger Mayer, who had previously worked with Jimmy Page on a high distortion, high sustain pedal, meets Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix asks him to build an octave fuzz pedal. – the first of its kind. This device creates an octave up sound by bending the wave form over itself. The Octavia went on to be legendary in its own right, popularized by Jimi Hendrix’s performances on his first record, Are You Experienced?

1969 ushers in Mike Matthews’ genius creation, Electro-Harmonix’s Big Muff. Matthews got his start building fuzz pedals for Guild. The development of this particular pedal began with the LPB-1, linear power booster, the year before. This company would revolutionize effects and their accessibility to musicians.
