Data Analysis in Microsoft Excel
Welcome to Data Analysis in the Kelley School! We will be using Microsoft Excel to learn some powerful tools and skills in order to break down some business scenarios, solving a variety of key problems along the way. In each chapter in this section, please work through the Guided Tasks and More Practice as described in the Introduction. You can also look at further exercises in the Appendix, and then you can do the following to check your work for the More Practice sections.
How can you check your work?
In some files, but not all, I will have solution worksheets hidden. To find these worksheets so you can check your own work, follow these steps:
- Right-click on any of the worksheet tabs at the bottom of the Excel file.
- Choose Unhide.
- In the list of hidden worksheets, choose the one you want to unhide, then click OK.
- Compare your work to the worksheet that has the word “solution” in its name. If you did something differently, that doesn’t mean it’s wrong, but you may want to check with me to make sure it’s okay.
- If you have questions, be sure to ask me either during office hours, before class, after class, or make an appointment with me. You could also ask peer tutors and teaching assistants for help before, during, or after class.
If you opened your file from your IU OneDrive, it should be saved. Close your file. Make sure the Date Modified is right now.
