Elmhurst Mansion

This Mansion is considered a historical place because it has been home to many important people in  U.S. history such as Caleb Blood Smith who was the 6th U.S. secretary of the interior who served in Abraham Lincoln’s cabinet. It now serves the purpose of being a masonic lodge and several American Civil War reenactments have taken place there over the years.

Historic Connersville Museum 

This museum has everything anyone needs to know about the history of Connersville. It has a downtown area historic tour guide, many Native American artifacts, pioneer life & log cabin,  several Connersville-built cars, and more!

Whitewater Valley Railroad (Museum)

This heritage railroad connects Connersville, IN to Metamora, IN, and is one of the most scenic railroads in Indiana. According to their website, The Whitewater Valley Railroad is a “volunteer-run, not-for-profit operating railroad museum dedicated to preserving a historic branch line railroad, the restoration of railroad equipment, and the conduct of educational railroad programs” (https://whitewatervalleyrr.org/). In December, the railroad is the busiest due to the Polar Express train ride event. Other events include a dinner train ride, a Valley Flyer to Connersville to Metamora, Easter Bunny Express, Ghost Train, and many more!

Metamora

This place is filled with history as it is a restored canal town that has a working grist mill, and a replica horse-drawn canal boat. It also has many shops and restaurants that are unique to the place, along with hosting their annual Metamora Canal Days that have many vendors for the festival.
