11 Comfort

Sleep well my dear as rainy dawn draws near,

our bed is warm, our hardest work is done.

You’re safe here with me, there’s nothing to fear.

Last night the stars were out, the sky was clear,

now storm clouds crack with thunder like a gun.

Sleep well my dear as rainy dawn draws near.

I see around those that look at you and sneer,

but don’t you walk around with your head hung.

You’re safe here with me, there’s nothing to fear.

As our sheets are strewn and our fan blows air,

right down the window rain begins to run.

Sleep well my dear as rainy dawn draws near.

We’ll have a few too many nasty beers,

we’ll laugh and sing and dance and we’ll know then

you’re safe here with me, there’s nothing to fear

So I lie with you, whisper in your ear

what I’ve said before and I’ll say again

“Sleep well my dear as rainy dawn draws near.

You’re safe here with me, there’s nothing to fear.”
