26 High School Sweethearts

One night all the stars aligned,
never have I had a first night so sweet.
to gaze upon the Indiana sky was a treat.
we’ve faced the consequences with resigned
but steady demeanor, besides it’ll be nice to unwind.
I’ll return with a larger fleet,
and eventually we’ll be suckling at the universe’s teat,
with happiness to you consigned.
And our story we’ll portray
on bouquets of stained glass
the tradition isn’t ours, but I’ll give you a kumquat,
and keep full your ashtray.
We’ll have a lovely cat that doesn’t mind how we harass.
