Module 2 English Language Arts

Anansi the Spider-Man

Storytime

West Indian folktales capture the essence of Caribbean culture and African heritage.  The most popular character is Anansi the Spiderman.

In St. Kitts, if someone says you are telling a “ ‘nansi story ” they mean that you whatever you are telling them is made up – an invention rather than the truth.  Anansi stories form part of the culture of the Caribbean, African-Americans, and West Africa.
