IU MyVoice staff engagement survey results demonstrate significantly increased engagement

My Voice at IU is a continuous process at Indiana University to increase staff employee engagement and ensure IU remains a workplace of choice.

This survey was last administered in 2019. Since then, the Department of Medicine’s overall mean increased by .31, to 4.22 (on a 5 point scale). The department ranks at the 60th percentile for all organizations in the Gallup database.

Sixty-one percent of the 213 respondents reported being engaged, which is an increase of 20% from 2019.

Successful Recruitment of Administrators

The Department of Medicine recruited two new Service Line Administrators. Maggie Bennett, BSN, RN, started in March 2022 with Infectious Diseases, and Tonya Somers, MS,RD, CDCES, started in May 2022 with Endocrinology, Rheumatology, and Diabetes Center. Additionally, the department welcomed two new Division Administrators to their roles. Chelsie Willoughby, with Gastroenterology/Hepatology, started in November 2022, and Adam Beach started in December 2022 with Cardiovascular Medicine.

Continuous Improvement

Annually, the department participates in continuous improvement, and the focus for was on wellbeing, retention, and quality. This included the use of a new tool to measure climate and wellbeing; efforts to increase our overall employee engagement; and, on the clinical side, measures to improve mortality and harm events for our patients (see graph).
