PULMONARY, CRITICAL CARE, SLEEP AND OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE
Goals: Continue to identify and recruit high-impact scientists and physicianscientists to expand research portfolio in the areas of airway biology/asthma/ immunology, lung fibrosis/repair/injury, pulmonary vascular disease, and critical illness translational/outcomes to strengthen ICU brain dysfunction/recovery program; build a more robust clinical trials operation within the division to be able to support additional clinical trials for all faculty and fellows; continue to recruit and support a diverse group of talented trainees, faculty, and staff while working to ensure that they all feel supported and have had time to process the past several years of intense work caring for COVID-19 patients
Clinical Areas of Excellence:
interstitial and immunologic lung disease (including sarcoidosis, broncho-alveolar lavage analysis); lung transplant; pulmonary hypertension including CTEPH; adult cystic fibrosis; interventional pulmonology (including bronchoscopic lung volume reduction and complex airway interventions); neuromuscular lung disease; critical care, including cardiovascular, ECMO and neurocritical care; post-critical illness care (“survivor’s clinic”); sleep disorders
Education Areas of Excellence:
the division boasts several nationally well-known medical educators, and has multiple fellows pursuing the Clinician Educator training pathway; additionally, faculty generally publish multiple papers per year in education topics
