About Doug

While it may seem strange to give an introduction to the person who the entire book is about, I felt it was important to give readers a general sense of who Doug is before jumping right into his life story.

Doug is an older gentleman in the Door County community, residing in Sister Bay with his wife, Dixie. He and Dixie met while Doug was in the Marines, working primarily in communications. Dixie worked for the Bureau of Ships in Washington, managing the maintenance and parts for the different ships docking and based out of there. Once Doug was out of the Marines, they got married.

Doug later went into insurance, where he worked until he retired. Despite his retirement, Doug is still active in his community, especially at Stella Maris Catholic Church. He organizes various events, along with Dixie, and he is one of the primary members of the Knights of Columbus for the parish.

Doug is as friendly as he can with everyone and is open to listening to the views and stories of others, even if he does not always agree. Doug is also a very passionate and emotional man, who cares deeply for his community and his country. He worries often about the youth of today, and what they are being taught in schools.

Altogether, Doug is an active, passionate citizen who wants to continue to serve his country and his community to the best of his ability.
