Study Abroad opportunities at Indiana University East (IUE) are developed and managed through the IUE Study Abroad program and the IU Education Abroad. These experiences aim to enhance international awareness and understanding, enrich curricula, and expand educational opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. By providing a transformative experience that fosters international and intercultural learning, study abroad significantly contributes to students’ careers across all fields of specialization and is an integral part of an IU education.

Additionally, the Global Classroom initiative allows instructors to incorporate an international component into their classes by collaborating with foreign partners. This initiative provides students with valuable experience in cross-cultural, project-based work supported by technology, preparing them for the global nature of their future careers. The goals of the initiative are to enhance students’ ability to communicate and collaborate across national and cultural boundaries and to deepen their understanding and respect for different norms and values.

Furthermore, the IU East Archives has launched an initiative to capture and document past study abroad experiences and Global Classroom projects. This effort aims to preserve the rich history of these programs, showcasing the impact they have had on students’ educational journeys and fostering a deeper appreciation for international and intercultural learning within the university community.
