29 Safety While Traveling

You are strongly discouraged from traveling to areas both in the country and in the surrounding areas that the U.S. State Department has designated as hazardous or for which it has issued an advisory against traveling there. Make sure to check the U.S. State Department website for Travel Advisories and Consular Information Sheets for any country you are considering traveling to before making any travel plans (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages.html ). Or, if you do not have access to the Internet, check with the U.S. embassy or consulate nearest you. Major notices will be forwarded by AYF program and/or study abroad office staff. In addition, make sure to leave your travel itinerary with the AYF Program Center and with your family or a friend in the U.S. in case someone needs to contact you in an emergency as well as for your own protection.
