WIP Madrid Program Goals

• Competence with the Spanish language and knowledge of Spanish literature, culture, history and the arts
• Integration into the academic and social environment of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid
• Cultural (and linguistic) immersion experience in a supportive environment
• Personal development and growth

Program Elements that Support these Goals

• Resident staff to provide personal and academic advising
• Program office located on the Complutense campus
• Special courses taught by Spanish faculty in Spanish in area studies for program
  participants on the Spanish Track
• Special courses taught by Spanish faculty in English for a variety of subjects for
  program participants on the English track, with an introduction to Spanish language
• Attendance in Universidad Complutense de Madrid courses with Spanish students (Academic Year and Spring semester students on the Spanish track)
• Coursework integrated into students’ academic goals
• Volunteer opportunities available for all students able to make a minimum of 5 months’ commitment
• Cultural excursions to various regions in Spain to UNESCO World Heritage Sites
• Independently arranged housing in student apartments, residence halls or homestays
• Language exchange opportunities with UCM students (intercambios)
