3 Roles and Responsibilities

eDS

  • Manager/Principal
    • assembles team of designers
    • oversees project management of an entire program’s development
    • serves as the primary contact for program leadership to communicate with eDS
    • escalates political concerns and any disruptions to the timeline
  • Lead ID
    • Oversees development of individual courses in the program
    • Works together with SME and team to develop and create course content
    • Acts as a consultant to encourage accessibility in course resources
    • Connect SME with appropriate experts and resources (e.g. ed. technologist, video production team, librarians, etc.)
    • Schedules work meetings with SME, design team, and partners (i.e. multimedia team, graphic designers, developers, etc)
    • Handles correspondence with SME and team
    • Documentation
      • establish expectations early in the build regarding timeline, deliverables, expectations, etc.
  •  Associate/Assistant ID (availability may be limited – the below list may not be realistic for each course)
    • Support staff for course development
    • Regularly attends course design meetings with eDS and SME
    • Takes meeting notes to share with team members and SME
    • Builds out Canvas site including overview pages, assessments, modules, etc according to Lead ID’s instructions
  • Graphic Designer
    • Works with Lead ID and SMEs to create educational visual elements for the course design
    • Coordinates with eDS Manager/Principal and Marketing/Branding team to ensure that graphics meet program branding guidelines
  • Video Producer
    • Consults with each SME on best practices
    • Provides video editing on videos outside of basic lectures
  • Instructional Technologist
    • Works with Lead ID and SME to identify relevant tools to accomplish course goals
    • Researches and trains design team and SME on how best to use the tools
  • Developers
    • Creates course specific widgets as needed
  • Analysts
    • Works with Lead ID, SME, and Assessment Team as necessary to create custom analytics dashboards

  • Producer
    • Works with Lead ID, Multimedia Team, and SME to schedule recording sessions
    • Works with Lead ID, Multimedia Team, and SME to create scripts and design multimedia assets
  • Video technicians
    • Works with AMPS Producer, Lead ID, and SME to make edits in post-production
