LETTER FROM THE ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS LEADERSHIP TEAM
January 2023
The only constant is change, and 2022 proved that to be true. The biggest change for Enterprise Systems came with the addition of new colleagues and applications. We welcomed the UITS Digital Campus and Constituent Relationship Management teams into our division, along with aligned UA development teams. We reorganized to accommodate, and these new voices brought fresh energy to every area, including the leadership team. We added two new directors (Madeline Grdina and Chris Tompkins), and Lora Fox succeeded Aaron Neal as the AVP.
Over the past year, we were able to come back together for in-person events and return to our strategic priorities after the turmoil of the pandemic. ES teams accomplished a wide breadth of objectives and achieved a variety of significant goals. Highlights include the launch of Rivet 2.0, which enables more usable, consistent, and accessible custom applications, as well as the implementation of the cloud-hosted Kuali Research Institutional Biosafety Controls system, which replaces legacy technology. Our teams developed new applications to connect carpoolers as well as convert existing configurations to support business changes, such as the dining plan shift to “all you care to eat.” We advanced compliance, HR, and student business capabilities by completing the “reports to” CRM compliance and TransferNow projects. We also completed critical infrastructure projects like migrating our applications to Oracle 19c and completing hundreds of upgrades to keep our portfolio of applications up to date and secure.
During 2022, we shifted our divisional strategic focus to shared goals to enable ES staff to be as effective and empowered as possible. We will continue that focus this year, incorporating lessons learned from the previous year. Our strategic focus areas and goals for 2023 are streamlined to five, to ensure we can concentrate on the most important targets. These focus areas will allow us to further the overarching university priorities of students, research, and service to Indiana. We will also continue to utilize task forces that empower emerging leaders and facilitate cross-team collaboration.
We are excited to see what 2023 brings, and we are confident it will be incredible thanks to your continued hard work and innovation.
