INTRODUCTION
Enterprise Systems (ES) is composed of six units that are responsible for creating, maintaining, and supporting university-wide software solutions and their underlying infrastructure in support of Indiana University’s academic and administrative functions. Our group of over 200 talented staff supports over 400 applications and integrations that include IU- and vendor-developed software.
The six ES units are as follows:
- Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) — Responsible for the design, architecture, implementation, and ongoing support of the technology that powers the enterprise constituent relationship management platform. The enterprise IU CRM platform provides a holistic view of all internal and external university constituents, including both people and organizations, while managing multifaceted university relationships and constituent interactions. This includes robust integrated capabilities of engagement, interaction management, and communications to improve both the constituent experience and operational success.
- Departmental Solutions (DSOL) — Responsible for supporting departmental partners at IU in the use of enterprise systems and the application of enterprise-aligned strategies in the development and maintenance of websites and web applications. Departmental Solutions aims to meet the needs of departmental partners through increased efficiency, maintaining close partnerships across UITS, and concentrating the expertise of departmental developers from around the university to build highly effective teams.
- Enterprise Applications (EA) — Responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting systems that meet the needs of auxiliary units, including CrimsonCard, Capital Planning, Facilities, Parking Operations, Public Safety, Residential Programs and Services, and IU Dining. The group is also responsible for the support of Azure cloud services and the IU instance of Microsoft 365, which includes e-mail, Teams, and the Power Platform.
- Enterprise Experience (EE) — Responsible for apps, web spaces, and tools that help shape the user experience of students, faculty, and staff when they interact with IU’s digital campus. Enterprise Experience’s goals are to reduce redundancy, improve usability, and deliver services rooted in best industry practices.
- Enterprise Solutions (ESOL) — Responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting infrastructure and software to meet the needs of IU’s teaching and research missions. The software includes Identity Management, Research Administration Systems, middleware, and integrations. The infrastructure and platform enable the efficient delivery of services while maintaining best practices surrounding security, monitoring, configuration, and deployment.
- Enterprise Student and Administrative Systems (ESAS) — Responsible for the technology that manages information about students, staff, and faculty across all of IU. The related systems and integrations span a large set of functionalities including enrollment, financial aid, bursar billing, admissions, student advising and success, learning management, talent acquisition, payroll, tax, benefits, financial accounting, purchasing, travel, and libraries.
