Overview of Fairbanks Career Development

Accreditation Reporting

Career offices are often tasks with tracking outcomes for their graduates. We track this through our First Destination Survey (FDS). This data is made available for public consumption on this website: https://career.iupui.edu/outcomes/

Data collection is finalized at the start of January for our undergraduate outcomes. This report is the “biggest lift” in data collection we have and you will likely be ask if you can assist with finding next steps for some of our graduates. Should this happen, we will chat about the needs and a list of students will be provided with contact information to help find them online.

While due in January, we start receiving lists of students as early as April and updated roughly monthly.

Services offered

  • Weekly newsletter – Alumni. faculty, staff, and community partners send various leads to opportunities. This newsletter is a way to share information with students and alumni while also supporting relationships with those invested in sharing. This is built in Sway and distributed through Canvas.
  • Alumni connect program – Alumni are contacted each summer to request their participation in the program. This resource is predominately used throughout the year to facilitate one-on-one connections and to seek speakers for alumni panels.
  • Career & professional development Canvas page – Used as a way to have information and resources available to students when they need them. This is constantly evolving and growing, in need of regular editing and reviewing.
  • Workshops and classroom presentations – The overall goal is to keep the opportunity open to connect, but also to seek students where they are located. Connecting with faculty, particularly to cover a class when they will be out for something like a conference is an excellent way to get in front of students and ensure they know about resources available.
