1 Considerations in Adapting Materials, Course, and Curriculum

When adapting your materials for virtual learning, you will need to consider the same aspects as for your traditional classroom, as well as the accessibility of your materials. Let’s briefly review these aspects:

 Visual Organization

  • Are the materials and the physical AND virtual space organized to increase understanding and independence in successfully interacting with and carrying out the activity?

Visual Clarity

  • Is the student’s attention drawn in to clarify the most relevant and useful information to successful understanding and completion?

Examples

Visual Instructions

  • Are the particular steps or sequence communicated to the student to ensure adequate follow through and completion of the activity?

Examples

Tapping into Interests

  • Are the student’s individualized interests incorporated into the activity to promote engagement, interest and successful completion?

Accessibility

  • Can a student interact with digital materials in full, including movement, sound, text boxes, etc?
