Hi! My name is Samantha (Sammei) Fulkerson-Bird. I am a current student at Indiana University East and play volleyball for the school team. With school and volleyball I also work as a server at Texas Road House and have a beautiful puppy named Hazel.

Before I got Hazel I was looking at local animal shelters here in Richmond. I came across Help the Animal Shelter and did not find what I was looking for. Although I did not find Hazel there I was very impressed with how they ran their shelter. I wanted to look into volunteering. When volunteering I met some amazing people and even more amazing animals, thus sending me into a passion with helping the shelter.

I was born in Southern china and adopted to a great family in Indianapolis Indiana. I grew up in Indianapolis and went to a very diverse high school. I have never felt like I fit in but when I came home to my dogs I immediately felt better. Animals have always been very important to me. I was always the one bringing home strays.

I hope when you will get inspired to help out the animals as much as I do after reading this book.
