3 Tools to Encourage Student-to-Content Interaction
Student-to-Content Interaction
It is often assumed that students are engaging with course content through reading and completing course assignments; however, we have tools available at IU to encourage students to increase the frequency and duration of their engagement with the course material. Click the titles of each tool below to learn more about how it might be used to entice students to interact with your course content.
PlayPosit
PlayPosit is an engagement tool that turns any video, from YouTube videos to recorded Kaltura lectures, into an interactive learning experience. Students can answer questions and engage in branching scenarios designed to customize their experience based upon their understanding of the material.
Kaltura Quizzes
Kaltura videos can be turned into interactive video quizzes that are easily embedded in your course’s Canvas site. This is a great way to offer students feedback on their understanding of the material as they work their way through the video.
Quick Check
Quick Check is a tool that integrates seamlessly into Canvas at IU. It is a formative assessment tool that can be embedded in a Canvas page to allow students to check their understanding of the material before moving on to any graded assignments.
Student Annotations
Student Annotations is a Canvas assignment submission type that can be graded or ungraded in your course. This tool allows students to individually mark up a file that you have shared with them and submit their annotated document to you for review and feedback. This is a great approach to get students to complete close reading of important articles or lecture notes while taking notes and making reflections along the way.
