Academic Resources

 

Academic Support Centers

Academic Support Centers are located in Briscoe, Forest, and Teter residence halls. They offer individual tutors, workshops, study groups, and academic advising. Develop your study skills and find help with math, writing, and other subjects.

 

University Information Technology Services (UITS)

UITS provides technology support 24 hours a day via chat, phone, and email. In-person support is offered at the Learning Commons during business hours. UITS can help you learn software programs used in your classes, and also provides many popular software programs for free at iuware.iu.edu.

 

Writing Tutorial Services (WTS)

WTS can assist you with every phase of a writing project. Tutors are available online or in-person. Contact them directly to schedule an appointment.

 

The Student Academic Center

The Student Academic Center is located on the northeast corner of campus by Student Central. They offer comprehensive free learning support, including workshops, online courses, and one-on-one advising.

 

The Learning Commons

The Learning Commons is located in the Wells Library and offers a variety of services like color and large poster-size printing, work stations, and IT consultants who are available 24 hours a day.

 

Sports and Fitness

Your student activity fee includes a membership to the largest sports and fitness center in town. Campus Recreational Sports offers two campus locations, the Wildermuth Intramural Center (WIC) and the Student Recreational Sports Center (SRSC). Stay fit on campus with a wide variety of high-quality, safe, and enjoyable sports and fitness programs for all levels.

 

Cultural Centers

IU offers many programs and services to support multicultural-ism and diversity. There are four cultural centers that promote cross-cultural understanding on campus. They support students who identify with a specific culture, and provide information to others who are interested in that culture.

La Casa / Latino Cultural Center: 715 E. Seventh Street
Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center: 275 N. Jordan Avenue

 

LGBTQIA+ Support

IU is rated one of the friendliest campuses in the U.S. for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual
(LGBTQIA+) students and their allies. The LGBTQ+ Culture Center is a resource and information center for individuals, campus groups, events, and activities. The office provides a welcoming and safe environment for individuals seeking to grow in their under-standing of LGBTQIA+ issues.

 

Student Advocates Office

The Student Advocates Office can assist you in resolving personal and academic problems so that you may maintain progress towards earning a degree. Advo-cates are retired faculty and administrators who can help you:

 

  • Work through charges of person-al or academic misconduct
  • Assist with grade changes and withdrawal requests
  • Provide guidance in any universi-ty appeal or conflict
  • Navigate many other institutional complexities at IU

 

Student Affairs

The Division of Student Affairs offers many campus services designed to help you succeed and make the most of your Hoosier experience. They offer many specialized resources for students with disabilities, first-year students, honors students, and those who are multi-cultural.

They can also help you find on or off-campus jobs, identify student activities and special interest groups, and provide legal, ethical, and academic problem-solving strategies.
