Tuberculosis Test

As an international student, you are required by state law to take a tuberculosis (TB) test. We recommend that you take it during your first week on campus because it is required to register for classes in future semesters.

If you do not complete the test during your first week, please call the IU Health Center at 812-855-7688 and press 1 to schedule an appointment.

Course Registration

If you are an undergraduate, you will take academic placement tests during orientation and meet with an academic advisor who will help you choose classes. Then you will sign up for classes during your academic advising appointment.

If you are a graduate student, your departmental advisor will help you plan and register for your course of study.

Both graduates and undergraduates will be able to register online in the Student Center at One.IU.

Textbooks

After registering, use your class schedule to figure out what books and supplies you need. You have several options for buying textbooks and other course materials. You can visit the Student Center on One.IU to order books online. The IU Bookstore is open during orientation

Take your schedule to either location and their staff will help you.

You can save money by purchasing used books or renting. Both options are available at the bookstores or through online companies like Amazon or Chegg. Renting is less expensive than purchasing, but the books are returned after the semester ends.

Some classes also use eTexts. These digital learning materials cross multiple platforms, are interactive, and may save students money.

About Advising

In order to graduate, you’ll need to attain the required course credits, or credit hours. Credit hours function as weights that assign value to the course you are taking, and represent the amount of time spent in class or working towards academic goals. An academic advisor will assist you with selecting courses that count toward your intended major’s graduation requirements. Advisors can also provide good advice about how to create a balanced course load and help you plan for future semesters to ensure your ability to graduate.
