In this book, we will cover the following topics: introduction to clinical history and interview techniques, health history content, and medical record documentation as applied to the optometric setting; optometric and medical terminology, interview techniques for special populations, legal aspects of medical records, differential diagnosis of visual symptoms, introduction to physical assessment, and ophthalmoscopy.

Purpose

This book is designed to aid in the training beginning optometry students in interview techniques, health history content and medical record documentation. It also aims to introduce the beginning optometry student to some of the instrumentation and procedures routinely used in eye care.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of reading this book, the optometric student will be able to perform the routine Optometric health history, correctly document the findings on the medical record and develop a working diagnosis based on patient responses.
