Welcome to the Indiana University East Campus History ebook! This ebook is an adaptation our IU East Campus History Course, which can be found in IU Expand. While the course is free to take and open to anybody, it can still prevent a barrier to those wanting to view and share information about our campus history. This ebook is meant to be a more accessible alternative to the course and contains the written content from the course.
Primarily using material from the archives, readers will be able to view or be redirected to primary documents, photographs, and even oral histories to learn about the campus’ history, as well as the faculty and students who worked at and attended IU East.
This ebook is also a work in progress. We are working to continuously add more content from the archives, such as oral histories from alumni, staff, and faculty, more photos, and more details and information about our campus, from annual events and student clubs to changes to within our administration and some challenges we faced. You can also find more information about the collections and content in this course directly from theĀ IU East Campus Archives libguide.
Special thanks to the student interns and workers who have had a hand in researching various aspects of our campus history or who have helped me gather and organize material from the archives: Hannah Castor, Dakota Firsich, and Brittany Yoder. Hannah Castor even wrote some of the content featured in this book during her Bicentennial Internship in the summer of 2017. I also want to thank the students who helped conduct and transcribe oral histories for us: Cassidy Clouse, Olivia Ryckman, Jennifer Haught, and Ashley Clayton.
