Unforeseen Closures:

Should the IU Kokomo campus close due to unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather, the library will also close. The IU-Notify system sends alerts of campus closings to registered users. You can also go to www.iuk.edu to view closure notices on the campus homepage.

Emergency Procedures: Active Shooter / Bomb / Fire / Tornado:

Library Student Assistants must follow the procedures to perform during various emergencies on the protect.iu.edu website.

IU-Notify informs the campus of an emergency. Sign-up and keep information current to receive alerts.

Shelter in place location: the southeastern corner of Cole Fitness Center
Evacuation location:  the parking lot next to the basketball court across Rebecca Drive

Injury Report Form:

Student Assistants injured at work must complete an Occupational Injury form within 24 hours. This form is located in the middle desk drawer. If appropriate, please also complete the Incident Report Form and the Medical Authorization Form.

Security:

Student Assistants can find security numbers and extensions posted next to the phone.

Security is available all hours that the library is open. Report any concerns to the Access Services Supervisor immediately. If an emergency or security issue arises, and a supervisor or librarian is unavailable, contact security personnel at x9363. Your call may first be answered by an IUPD officer on another campus, so be sure to clearly state that you are in the IU Kokomo Library.

Slipping Hazards:

If anyone reports or notices a potential slip and fall hazard—such as slippery sidewalks in bad weather, flooding or standing water in the restrooms, or spills—contact the Access Services Supervisor or the librarian at the Research Help Desk immediately. On weekends, contact Physical Plant directly at x9273.
