Checking Out Materials
Checking Out Materials:
Users must have their library card in order to check out library material. Do not look up a user without a CrimsonCard or photo ID, except for renewals by phone. To check out an item:
- In WorkFlows, select the Common Tasks tab. Then select Check Out in the menu.
- Scan the user’s library card.
- If an error message appears, take the appropriate action for that error. If you are unsure how to correct the error, ask the Access Services Supervisor or your coworker.
- Scan the barcode to check out the item. The library barcode is on the back or inside the back cover of books.
- WorkFlows will display the due date and print out a due date receipt, confirming the item has been checked out.
- Inform the user of the due date, and place the due date slip in the item being checked out.
- If an override message appears, you must first read and consider the message before overriding. For most overrides, press Y on the keyboard and enter button
- For orange card ILL books, you need to manually enter the due date that is listed on the card.
- While in the Check Out menu, select the Special Due Date icon. This icon is the calendar-shaped icon
- Enter the due date that is written on the orange card into the Special due date box. Enter “Y” into the Date due override box. Click ok.
- Place the orange card back in the item.
