18. Corrective action

Student employees are expected to read IU Policy HR-08-60 Corrective Action for Part Time Employees which forms the foundation of the Library’s approach to corrective action. As students are not guaranteed employment by the University, they must work to satisfactory standards to maintain employment.

If corrective action is determined necessary by your supervisor, they will communicate this with you in writing and maintain this documentation in your personnel file. This documentation includes:

  • Date of incident or issue
  • Description of guideline or policy violated
  • Signature of supervisor
  • Signature of student employee

After three incidents have been documented, the next infraction will result in termination. If there is a violation that poses a serious risk to the University or otherwise constitutes serious misconduct, your supervisor may immediately terminate your employment.
