4. Use of electronics
To maintain a high level of customer service, the use of personal devices (laptops, tablets, phones) should be limited. If you need to use a personal device to do homework that can not be completed on the circulation computers, you can only do so after all duties are completed.
The use of headphones while working at the circulation desk is prohibited. This includes any work completed in the circulation desk area, including shelf-reading. When you are on the floor, you may choose to wear one headphone at a low volume. However, you must remain alert and available to Library users who may approach you to ask questions.
If a supervisor or librarian determines that your personal device is causing too much of a distraction, or causing you to appear less approachable to users, they may ask you to stop using that device.
If you have an accessibility need with this or any other guideline, please discuss this with your supervisor.
