What to do when you’re not busy
At the Desk:
- Dust: monitors, counters, desks, bookshelves at desk and behind circulation area, tables, chairs
 - Wipe down desks and tables with provided cleaning supplies
 - There are various quizzes within the Modules tab of Canvas. You can refresh your LC shelving by taking the Orange/Yellow card quiz or the LC call number quiz. There is also a Government Documents Refresher for those that have already completed Gov Docs training.
 - Make yourself familiar with the library web pages and report issues as needed.
 - Reread any portions of the manual that you do not understand or need a refresher on.

On the Floor:
- Dust the Stacks
 - Straighten books and move bookends
 - Push in chairs and replace any furniture that has been moved
 - Pick up and throw away trash
- Any pens or pencils left around can be put in the pen cup, which is located by the printer in the South Commons

 - Open any blinds that are closed
 - Look for any misplaced books throughout the library. If you find any, bring them back to the Circulation desk to be marked used and then reshelve them
 - Go through the Stacks aisle and fix the shelves by bringing forward any books that might be pushed back
 - Check for lost and found items, especially before closing the library
 - Pull study room reservation sheets that are no longer needed, especially at the end of the day. Make sure to put these in the recycling.
 - Take photos for the Library Instagram and Facebook. Send these to the Information Services Librarian via email or Canvas message
 - Wipe down dirty desk or table surfaces. If there is a larger mess that requires anything more than a quick wipe down, ask a full-time employee to submit a ticket to facilities. If it is after 5pm, refer to the contact sheet to call Physical Facilities for assistance.
 - Shelf read
 - Check the printers throughout the library and refill the paper when necessary
 - Refill the staplers when necessary
 - Check for staple or printer jams
 - Straighten up the computers and their surrounding areas
