30 Evaluation Criteria
The student will be evaluated by the clinical site for each clinical rotation. The Clinical Coordinator will provide the clinical site an electronic evaluation through eValue. Additionally, any phone or in-person interviews with the staff at the clinical site can be factored into the student’s evaluation.
Clinical Rotation Evaluation
Students are evaluated on the following criteria:
Dependability
Student arrives to the department in plenty of time; is prepared to start shift; returns from breaks promptly; communicates absences/tardiness/school schedule |
Student’s personal appearance
Student maintains dress code; has a clean and neat uniform; wears leather uniform shoes; has hair neat and tied back if below shoulders; demonstrates appropriate personal hygiene; wears proper identification badge |
Student works as a TEAM member
Student works collaboratively with institutional staff and/or students; builds and maintains rapport; facilitates shared workload with peers; acknowledges others’ skill, experience, creativity, and contributions; stocks rooms regularly |
Student is respectful and considerate
Student demonstrates nonjudgmental attitudes; treats patients and staff with respect; demonstrates professionalism |
Ability to handle stress
Student handles pressure situations well; appears calm in busy situations |
Initiative
Student eagerly seeks and initiates work/other duties; is interested, helpful and participated in all exams without having to be prompted by the technologist; stays busy being productive and helpful |
Interpersonal skills with patients
Introduces self, converses with the patient and puts them at ease; gives clear understandable instructions/explanations to the patient; is considerate of emotional, physical, and cultural needs of the patient |
Interpersonal skills with staff/other medical personnel

Student selects appropriate transducer and system preset for specified exam; accurately enters patient demographic/history information into system; prepares other equipment/accessories as required |

Students accurately identifies and locates anatomic structures; identifies sonographic landmarks relative to their level of experience |
Overall clinical competence and performance
Student demonstrates competence relative to their level of experience; your satisfaction with the student’s overall performance |
