30 Winning Times

In 2003 I ran the 100 meter dash for the first time. I ran 11.63 seconds and finished first. I didn’t win my first championship until 2004, where I ran 10.86 seconds.
In 2006, I took my race on the road having run 20.65 seconds in the 200 meter dash, and signed a contract with Nike to race professionally under their flag. I tore my left hamstring the same year and would never race on the track again. I won two professional races, but no championships.
In 2001 I ran the 400 meter dash for the first time and it was extremely difficult. I ran 55 seconds flat and I thought I’d never run it again. I finished in fourth place, but I ran it again the next week and the week after that. I never won a championship in the 400 meter dash, but I won a lot of races.
In 2005, I discovered relay races. I was always on a really good team so I was never fast enough, but my senior year I was the fastest person on my team. I admired track as an individual sport, but team sports were always my favorite. I never lost a relay race the entire year, not in the 400 meter relay or the 1600 meter relay. My team won 4 championships, to include the national championship in both relays.
In 2000 was the first time I ran the 800. I always ran good races, but I never won a championship. The first time I ran the race my time was 2:12 and my fastest time was 1:54. Although I won alot of races, and I mean a lot of them, I never ran a good enough race to win in any of the championship races I competed in.
In 1998 was the first time I ran the mile. I ran 8:02 and it was then that I knew that long distance running was not what I wanted to do. It was too hard to be good, and it was too much work. I competed in the mile on a variety of occasions, but I never won a single race.
In 2003 I ran the 200 meter dash in 23.44 seconds. I did not get first place in that race, but the following week I ran 23.18 seconds and finished first. That was where I found my perfect distance; not too long, not too short.
In 2009, I ran the 2 mile competitively for the first time as an adult. During my time in the army, I never placed worse than first, and although my average time was about 10:30, I still have the record on the island of Oahu as far as military records go with a time of 9:34.
