GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION 

AMPATH Consortium Clinical Rotations in Kenya

  • July Arrivals: one Brown family medicine fellow, one emergency medicine fellow
  • IU Residents: an in-person orientation will take place for all IU residents traveling to Kenya during the next academic year on September 26th from 3-6PM.
  • Clinical Rotation Approval Process:
  • If your institution plans to send trainees to Kenya during the next academic year, please contact Victoria Eder (vneder@iu.edu) to confirm ward availability.
  • Once availability has been confirmed and at least 10 weeks in advance of the rotation, the trainee(s) should submit an AMPATH Kenya Visit Pre-Approval Form. This will be reviewed by the AMPATH Education team as a final check; once approved, the trainee may request housing and apply for a medical license.

2024-2025 Moi Registrar Rotations in US/Canada/Sweden

  • The following institutions have confirmed plans to host Moi registrars in the 2024-2025 academic year:

  • Planning is also underway for a Moi faculty member/Aga Khan neurology fellow to complete a nine-month rotation at IU starting this fall.
  • As part of AMPATH’s commitment to reciprocity, any AMPATH member institution that sends trainees to Kenya is expected to host Moi University trainees.  If you have not already done so, please notify Victoria Eder (vneder@iu.edu) when your institution’s plans to host Moi students and/or registrars in the upcoming academic year.

AMPATH Consortium Clinical Rotations in Kenya

  • Clinical Rotation Approval Process:
  • If your institution plans to send trainees to Kenya during this or the next academic year, please contact Victoria Eder (vneder@iu.edu) to confirm ward and IU House availability.
  • Once availability has been confirmed and at least 10 weeks in advance of the rotation, the student(s) should submit an AMPATH Kenya Visit Pre-Approval Form. 2024 Moi Student Rotations

  • Moi University students are scheduled to arrive in the US and Canada for clinical rotations on August 11th., including 19 medical students (1 visa denied) and 2 nursing students.
  • Host institutions include Brown, Duke, Indiana, Kaiser Permanente, MSSM, Stanford, Toronto, UT Dell, and UVA.
  • A mid-rotation debriefing for the Moi students in the US, Canada and Sweden, as well as the Ghanaian students at NYU, will take place via Zoom September 16th from 12-1PM EDT.

AMPATH GLOBAL 

  • AMPATH Global Education Committee meets the third Thursday of each month from 9-10AM ET to discuss education-related topics. Any AMPATH consortium member who would like to attend these meetings may contact Debra Litzelman (dklitzel@iu.edu) and CC Justina Savage (jusavage@iu.edu) to be added to the calendar invitation; in the email, please provide your full name, title and affiliation.
