5 How I Remember School

Around May, 2010 we lined up on stage to rehearse our graduation walk. We were all wearing our school uniforms for the last time. Next time here, we would be in our caps and gowns.

Around 2002 I first walked through the doors of Howe Academy, where I would experience many new things from 6th-12th grade. The same halls that my parents once walked, the rooms were just how they remember too.

Around 2001 I was in 5th grade, preparing for another long day of school. Announcements came on that parents would be on their way and school was canceled for the day. 9/11 had just happened and everyone was scared.

Around 2007 I had a huge crush on one of my best friends. We would always write paper notes back and forth and hang out after school. We dated for a few months until we were just friends again.

Around 1996 my first grade teacher. Mrs Spikes, introduced me to my new class. She ended up being one of my favorite teachers because of how fun she made the class. She would have games weekly and always tell you how proud of you she was when you figured out a problem.

Around 2008 I met a girl named Brandi in biology class who would change my life forever. I would go on to marry her and have 2 daughters with her.

Around 2006 high school life was starting! I was super nervous and anxious. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew lots of my friends would be with me in this new adventure.

Around 2007 I started half-days at Tech High School. I was chasing my passion for art. Taking courses in graphic design, meeting new people and getting my first real experience with photoshop.

Around 2009 news broke that one of our classmates had passed away. It was a good friend of mine. Someone I grew up with from an early age. I had a very difficult time with it.
