8 The Least Favorite for Any Occasion

Pies have a reputation.
And it’s immediate—no talk of how bad

Regarding a pie, It’s awful
Very few taste good; almost always too sweet

The different colors mixed like vomit
Disgusting could be an understatement.

I would never gift one to a friend
Their presence in school; terrible

They have a reputation
Built by grandmothers years ago

But the taste must have stayed with them.
These are not the same pies.

Most times from a conveyor belt
To your dinner table

Plus, who’s ever tasted a sugarless pie
“This is so bland with no flavor” someone says.

It doesn’t even look appealing.
“I’m decorated mush”, the pie says.

How could anyone want
This at any occasion?

But I admit, there are decent pies
Like Pumpkin coated with whipped cream.

Maybe though, it’s just my love for whipped cream
That covers the taste of another pie.

After all, at least people get excited for it
Thanksgiving: “That pumpkin pie looks delicious!”

Pecan pie is another delicacy
That should be in its own class.

Between these two, they carry the load!
“Pecan pie is my favorite”, the child says

What stands these pies apart
From their brothers and sisters?

Maybe it’s because the others are older
They have outgrown our taste buds

We don’t listen to left-over pie
Like we do old music, it’s not the same taste.
