14 Instructions for adding LHSI to an existing ePortfolio

Most interns will use the template provided in Google Sites. However, if you already have an ePortfolio and want to add LHSI as a section, you will need to follow the instructions below. Throughout the school year, you’ll receive assignments providing instructions and prompts to help you update your ePortfolio website with what you learn during your internship. The assignments reference specific pages and sections of your ePortfolio so it’s important to follow the instructions below carefully or the monthly assignments will be confusing.

These instructions are designed for Google Sites. Most website platforms use similar wording such as pages and sections. You should be able to follow along by looking for those terms even if you don’t use Google Sites.

Open the template and your ePortfolio

  1. Open a new tab or window. Keep these instructions open. Use Google Chrome for the best editing experience on Google Sites.
  2. Open a tab or window with Sparky’s ePortfolio: https://sites.google.com/iu.edu/sparkys-eportfolio202425/. You’ll use this like a template to copy formatting.
  3. Open your existing ePortfolio site.
  4. On the right upper corner click on “Adding to an existing site?” to view what the LHSI page will look like. This will be your home page for LHSI content.

Add the LHSI page to your existing ePortfolio

  1. Switch back to your existing ePortfolio tab, and select Add Pages to Your ePortfolio
  2. Add a page. This will be your homepage for LHSI content.
    1. To add a title page, Click on “Pages” in the upper right corner.
    2. Click on the “+” sign.
    3. Select “new page.”
    4. Title it LHSI or Life-Health Sciences Internship Program. This will serve as your homepage, as you see it on the Sparky ePortfolio when you click on “Adding to an existing site?”.

Create subpages under your LHSI homepage

  1. Next to “LHSI” on the right side, click on the three dots, then select “Add subpage.” Name that page Goals and Learning.
  2. Next to “LHSI” on the right side, click on the three dots, then select “Add subpage.” Name that page Internship.
  3. You should now have two subpages called “Goals and Learning” and “Internship.”. They will appear under the page titled LHSI.
  4. When you’re done, you should have an LHSI title page and the subpages Internship and goals and learning.

Format Your Pages

Ensure your LHSI pages on your existing ePortfolio mirrors the Sparky ePortfolio.

  1. Copy and paste headers and prompts from the LHSI Template into your Existing ePortfolio.
  2. The LHSI page will have everything you see on the Adding to an existing site? page of the Sparky ePortfolio.
  3. The Goals and Learning page and Internship page should have the same information that is on each of those subpages in the Sparky ePortfolio.
  4. Each page and its content should be organized under the appropriate page/subpages. By doing this, you can be confident that you will always be ready with the correct prompts each month. The assignments in Canvas will tell you which page to edit each month.

By following these steps, you can easily include LHSI information into your current ePortfolio while staying consistent with the LHSI ePortfolio Template.
