Due to wide variations in requirements across our many internship sites, LHSI does not coordinate or administer the following trainings and certifications.

These are some suggestions on what interns have had to complete in the past. Interns should generally do trainings required for employees at your site.

IRB Protocols

You may be required to add interns to existing IRB protocol. Some individual student projects may also need to go through IRB approval.

Professional Liability Insurance

Interns at some hospital locations must carry professional liability insurance for the duration of the internship in addition to meeting whatever safety and health requirements you have other employees complete.
The insurance applies even if the student will not have direct patient contact.  The insurance is at no cost to you or the student, but we do need to complete the paperwork prior to the start of the internship. The director coordinates the submission of this information.
