This page contains ideas for professional development on transferable skills, study skills, and work management skills. These are great options for virtual work or tasks that you can do (with permission) when you run out of work and need something to do while they prepare more tasks.
Talk to your supervisor about these ideas! You may do this on work time with approval by your supervisor.
IU Expand
IU has a variety of self-paced Canvas courses for professional education and trainings on a variety of topics. This could be used to learn skills and technology-related tools or to learn topical information. Sign in at IU Expand using your IU log-in to enroll in a course and add to your list of Canvas sites.
LinkedIn Learning
IU HR has partnered with LinkedIn Learning to provide current IU staff, faculty, and students with access to an online library of more than 15,000 expert-led video tutorials and courses. All students have access to sign in using your IU log-in LinkedIn Learning.
Fall Career Week
This is a week of events, panels, discussions, and other opportunities to learn about careers. We will promote this through our Canvas site. Supervisors usually allow interns to attend an event on the clock if you ask.

These open educational resource modules will walk you through practical exercises related to workplace skill development (all courtesy of Niagara College Canada). You can do individual sections or entire modules.

Research and Business Communication Skills (via Niagara College Canada)
The suite of Research and Business Communication Skills modules supports learners in building the practical skills necessary to communicate effectively in work integrated learning (WIL) situations. Content and activities help learners to select appropriate research strategies and prepare effective business communications, including writing emails, memos, and presentations.
