19 When to contact our team

The LHSI team is here to support you in every way. No problem is too big or small. We can even help with non-internship problems.

Assignments and program requirements

Have questions about the assignments? Confused about program expectations? Received feedback on an assignment and aren’t sure if you should fix it? Come to drop-in hours, make an appointment, or message the ambassadors. Most issues are quick and easy to figure out together in person. While supervisors and your fellow interns may mean well, they don’t always know the answers to program questions and you may end up more confused or frustrated. Stop by the office during drop-in hours and we can clear it up in just a few minutes!

Life and school issues

We have a whole chapter of resources in this handbook for non-internship help. We know that things can happen that impact your time with us. We want to reduce the barriers to your success in this internship, whether that means connecting you with food or housing resources, classroom assistance, or accessing health services. We can’t help if we don’t know about it. You can check out the list on your own or just make an appointment or come to our drop-in hours and we’ll look through it together. If you don’t feel comfortable telling us, reach out to your supervisor or someone at your site.

Navigating your internship

This internship is a learning experience. You will learn about the work your team does and you will also learn about the professional workplace. It’s ok not to know everything. We’re providing you a lot of resources and tips in this handbook and through our program meetings. If you get stuck or don’t know how to handle a situation, come to us! Our team won’t fix it for you but we’re here to talk it over. We’ve found that interns usually have a good idea on how to handle problems in the workplace and just need to talk it over with us to get the confidence to handle it.
