16 After the Interview
Review this video from IU Indianapolis on what to do after the interview.
Say Thank You
- Send an e-mail within 24 hours thanking the people you met with for the opportunity to interview (even if the site is not your top choice). This is a great opportunity to briefly reiterate your enthusiasm about the position and why you would be a good fit.
- If it’s not a good fit, just thank them for taking the time to interview.
- Don’t know what to write? Check out “writing a thank you letter” in the Professional Correspondence module of Canvas.
Let us know what you think
After you’ve finished all assigned interviews, complete the preference form in the interview match email to rank the sites after you’ve had a chance to meet with all assigned interview sites.
-
- Submit the form only once, not after each interview. Do not submit the form before you’ve started interviews.
- You could be matched with any of the sites you rank. There is also a space for additional notes to tell us how it went and to tell us if there are any supervisors you would definitely not want to work with (we will not match you with them).
- Do not tell the sites your ranking preference or make promises to list them first.
Supervisors will also complete that form. They will report any unprofessional behavior or if you did not interview. Contact us if you have any concerns.
Please note that interviews are no guarantee of acceptance into the program. Acceptance into LHSI is based on both a successful mutual match based on interviews and meeting the GPA eligibility after spring grades are released.
