Calumet Region Review: Half Empty

“The Region” lies here, a strange place

Where the residents show you a face

Sincere not at all

So don’t have the gall

To say what you mean out of place.

Large differences, clearly you’ll see,

‘tween the South and the North by the sea.

Large cars drive about

Any homeless kicked out

‘xcept for Gary, but not round L.C.

Be a man, you must mirror Chicago,

Be a lady, any place you can follow,

Be something between

It best not be seen –

Your identity, you’ll just have to swallow.

There are some good things you will find

Some beaches where you can unwind.

It has some great food,

to lighten your mood

and low taxes that you will not mind.

One last thing, I don’t need to shout,

That might define what it’s about,

If here you are raised,

Other lands you will graze

And look for a way to get out.
